Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2026

SochPlay ("we", "us") provides a live classroom quiz platform for teachers and students. We take privacy seriously, especially because students under 18 use our service. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Who this policy covers

  • Teachers (account holders) who sign up to host quizzes.
  • Students (players) who join a live game with a PIN — no account required.

2. What we collect

From teachers

  • Email address and password (or Google sign-in identifier) for authentication.
  • Display name you choose.
  • Quizzes, questions, and any images you upload.
  • Game history and analytics for games you host.

From students

  • Nickname you type when joining (this is the only required student input).
  • Answers, response times, and scores during the live game.
  • A short-lived browser token used to attribute answers to the right player.

We do not ask students for email, real name, phone number, location, or any contact information.

3. How we use it

  • To run live games (show questions, score answers, display the leaderboard).
  • To show teachers analytics for the games they host.
  • To keep your account secure and let you log back in.
  • To improve the product (in aggregate, never by selling individual data).

4. What we do not do

  • We do not sell personal data to third parties.
  • We do not show advertising in the app.
  • We do not track students across other websites.
  • We do not collect biometric data.

5. Children and student data

SochPlay is designed to be safe for classroom use. The teacher controls when a game runs and what questions are asked. Students join anonymously with a nickname and the data tied to a student exists only for the life of that game's analytics. Teachers may delete a game and all of its student answers at any time from the Game History page.

6. Where data is stored

Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure (Supabase / AWS). We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access is restricted by row-level security so teachers can only see data for their own quizzes and games.

7. Sharing with third parties

We share data only with service providers needed to operate SochPlay:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
  • Google — only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
  • Lovable — hosting and AI question generation.

8. Data retention

  • Teacher accounts and quizzes: kept until you delete them.
  • Game data and student answers: kept until the teacher deletes the game.
  • You can request full account deletion by emailing us at the address below.

9. Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Email hello@sochplay.com and we will respond within 30 days.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and, for teachers, notify you by email. Continued use of SochPlay after a change means you accept the updated policy.
